A Letter To A Lover by *meradragon:iconmeradragon:

“My love for you is like a dove”—wait, how is love even like a dove?
Well, doves are pure, I guess.  But they’re also flying rats, and they
Build flimsy nests.  Is my love a flying rat with a flimsy nest?
A second thought arrives and I think I should change this.

“My love for you is true.”  True?  How is love true?  Can it be false?
Maybe she’ll take this as a lustful statement.  “Of all the fish in the sea,
You’re the one for me!” Wait… am I likening her to a fish?  Of all the
Ugly beings in the world I chose you—I can’t do this!

“You are the apple of my eye”—but I don’t even like apples (allergies).
Am I now saying I’m allergic to her? How about just similes?
“Your eyes are like diamonds.” Cold and hard and costly?
“Your hair is like silk…” So your hair comes from a spider’s rear?  No.
“Your smile lights up the room.”  Like a flashlight?  Erm…

You know what.  I think I should just buy her a box of chocolates.

So anyway, I'm in a creative writing class and I've written a lot of poems... some of which, I think, are rather good :) This one was written late at night last minute, but hell, it makes people laugh, and that's all that matters!

Plus =SophieDragon told me to upload it.

It's a prose poem, which is like... not a poem at all. I think it's the poet's excuse to not have a form, myself xD

Haha, I love this. XD

I know that's not a very productive comment, but I'm just a random passerby, and I thought I should tell you that I like it. =] It made me smile.

Random passerbys are love, you know xD

But in that case... I succeeded! Its whole point was to make people smile.

English doesn't borrow from other languages; English follows other languages down dark alleys, knocks them over, and sifts through their pockets for loose grammar.

:3 Like how the guy wants it to be a perfect saying, but ends up making the saying sound bad. He cant find the words so tries to produce it in a "gift" :)

Really great poem

Critics will grumble. Of course they will. That's one of the functions of critics. As an artist it's your job to give them ulcers, and perhaps even something to get apoplectic about. -- Neil Gaiman

Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity they can train humans to stand at the edge of their pool and feed them fish three times a day.
