And here is your first peak at the homelands of the Kanakah, or firedragons. Nice place, isn't it?
Basically I wanted to do something with reds and a silhouette figure. I planned to do this last night with Selqur, but I had to sleep for bed. But today... I just doodled on and on and created this.

About forty to an hour for the background. A little extra time for the volcano, and some time for the dragon.
Total time: under two hours.

Nifty! I like how the volcano catches your eye right off the bat because it's the brightest and most central element of the scene, just before you catch sight of the dragon. I also love the way the entire scene is smoky and heat-hazy. Lastly, I like the overall shape of the dragon, especially the neck-spikes and the teeth. They're sinister, but not overdone - very subtle and menacing.

There are two flaws that I feel obligated to point out though. First, there are is some bad pixellation on the dragon, especially on the neck. Also, even though the scene is supposed to be all smoky and everything, some more detail would be nice.

Awesome use of reds, I love the silohuete(sp?) of the dragon's head and the little light from the faraway volcano.

Yeah, there was a slight amount of shading done on the neck to show some of the muscle, but I didn't define it well. Probably should have. *ponders fixing that*
Thanks for the wonderful comment and the critique ^_^

xD It currently is my desktop wallpaper. I'd upload a larger version that is a wallpaper... but what you see is what you get. I worked at the size of the final product.

I can just feel the smoke....the sun looks real. I could imagine being smothered by those clouds, or maybe it's the weather outside.

I love it! It seems to hold an air of mystery, insanity, and sadness. I love how the dragon is shillouted. Nice volano too. Overall great job.
