I'm so happy with this!

It's my final for illustration 1. Islenteon in the middle of the sitharian woods. Download for full view!

It's made to be poster sized :) I might sell some later! Sorry about the water mark,b ut it's a necessary evil.

... I have the notion that he's standing in a bog with various levels of water. I just wanted the excuse to incorporate an underwater view SOMEHOW. Think of those old nature posters that show the ecosystem of a given place. I loved those.

I'm excited to go home and check out how much it costs to print an actual LARGE poster sized version of it. Probably expensive, but I can shop around. Otherwise my 13x19 print looks pretty good hung up x3

It's so nice to hear that from you, what with your mastery of beautiful subtle colors

Gorgeous scenery here, the effect with the water looks really cool. I think I remember having a collection of 'science-y' books with cute ecosystem illustrations like you described in my childhood. I say 'science-y' because a few of them were about non-scientific stuff like culture, and "How the World works" or something like that. I'm pretty sure they're still around on a shelf somewhere, but silverfish scare the huggles out of me.

Anyway from Islenteon's magic, the wide variety of animals and the scenery I complemented earlier, this image as a nice "magical" feeling to it.

Only you, Mera, could have taken so many different animals and thrubbed them together in one shot in the most improbable of locations. That peacock looks so out of place and yet you've integrated it so well into the picture it's hard to imagine it elsewhere. Also, I thought I saw a death bird on that other tree, you know, the thing with the fiery plumage. Mostly, though, it's intriguing that such a thick wilderness would fade to light instead of darkness the further back it goes. There are just so many incredible things to talk about with this piece it's handicap-inducing.

Still have a little bit of a straight line demarcating the water from the air about two inches from the right, if you feel you want to touch this up again.

Don't try to keep thinking pessimistic thoughts. You will run out.

Critics will grumble. Of course they will. That's one of the functions of critics. As an artist it's your job to give them ulcers, and perhaps even something to get apoplectic about. -- Neil Gaiman
