A class assignment: the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

Well... I did my own approach on the topic, and I did lion riders from Sclaa, one of my worlds. They still represent the four horsemen, it's just with a more fantastic take.

I really enjoyed doing this piece, and it took a lot of work. I didn't keep track of time, but 20+ hours

Amazing work you have here and the background is just wow @_@...

Out of curiosity what was the original resolution of the image when you were working on it?

300 DPI and about 6600 x 4000 pixels per inch. HOWEVER I crop my images quite a bit at times, and a lot of the edges were cut out to center the characters better, and I think I cut off the bottom, too, because it had too much open space. For these types of projects, unless I'm given a particular dimension to work from, I just like to work HUGE, and crop where necessary. I'm still working on the ability, but I feel like if you draw outside of the main focus area, it gives the idea that there's more beyond the borders of the image...

WOW that is big...but certainly makes its easy to stick in details.

but I feel like if you draw outside of the main focus area, it gives the idea that there's more beyond the borders of the image

I agree with this...I do find as well if you work to a certain spaceyou sometimes morph things a little. (if that makes sense o_O)

It makes sense. And yes, working with bigger dimensions is sooo nice when it comes to getting details, since you can zoom out most of the time as you do the work, and when you zoom in, you're technically just working at the actual pixels, and therefore, the detail looks better. Actually, the majority of the details in this I worked at 50% actual pixels, and the rest of it, I worked even smaller!

Yes~

slightly OT: Do you think its better to resize down the image and then save or save big and then resize? (I really gotta start paying attention to what i'm doing...Been floating around in space XD)

I do both. I keep a full resolution image on my harddrive as a backup that I can print at any size and work with no problem, and then I resize the image, flatten it, and save a secondary jpg version for gallery purposes.
