My homework was to make a character sheet for a character I had in an upcoming illustration I was working on.

... I didn't name his ship the unicorn. That's what the book titled it. Irregardless, I think this turned out pretty well for being done last minute!

A very convincing character of the sea. I like the spyglass pose... quite the balanced stance. Plus, a bird with a personality. I like it.

I think that animal characters should always also have a personality to them :)!!

I'm actually going to submit a slightly edited version of this. My prof suggested a lot more shadowwork/etc, but I might just submit this later one i finish the colored version. we'll see!

You did a wonderful job on the anatomy, and I really like the nose. :)

Land Ho! Feels like quite the adventurous fellow, I especially like the full profile shot where it seems like he's conversing with his parrot buddy. Also like the forward thrust in the spyglass pose, especially with how the parrot's got its wings all spread out like, "Whoa there!" The eyes on the larger head shot seem kind of beady, they seem wider in the other angles and those feel a little more natural. Although the face still has a charming brightness to it.

That's what my professor said! I need to learn how to stylize difficult angles as well!
